ugh music | March 18, 2008

I had been against this whole Apple Mac trend since the beginning, thinking of them as overly expensive, and inferior products. I refused to buy myself any kind of iPod. It helped that after my first year of college, I stopped really listening to music, it wasn’t important to me. David would occasionally give me new music to listen to on my computer, and I liked some of them, but I could go months without listening to anything and not think twice about it.

Recently, David got the iPod Touch, after I finished scoffing and rolling my eyes, I noticed that it was actually really awesome. We listen to it during all car rides, and often end up singing loudly, blissfully, and out of tune to each other. Busy with his new toy, he gave me his first generation Shuffle for when I went to the gym. It was nice to have at the gym, and it made me listen to some new music. At home, I started doing crazy little dances that usually scared Mojito, I’m going to blame it on the new music.

Last week, I got a third generation Nano as a gift and it has made me a little more excited about music again. I’ve downloaded a few new albums and I even listen to it at work. Maybe I can once again join the ranks of normal people who enjoy listening to music.

Reminder: The Scuba Bee art contest is still going on! The deadline is April 6th.

My iPod is the reason I want a macbook.

    Sad. But true.

Oh, and the graphic design stuff. ‘Cause that’s awesome.

there’s something about a hot chick dancing in boxers.

iPods are interesting, but I always wonder if I should just get a full on so I can keep all my music on it, or get an iPhone but then I’d never get a call cause I’d burn out the batteries listening to music, and going on the internet, or maybe I should just get a Nano that I could afford.

i never really was into music years ago either. clancy really brought that back out in me and now i’m looking for new bands to listen to all the time. except my old ipod is broken sadly so really all i listen to in the car is the country radio station. i’m too lazy to burn CDs.

stu, the 2D tina dancing is a lot hotter than I am in real life. Most of my dancing at home consists of thrusting and jerking in a pseudo sexual seizure, not sexy at all, trust me.

I am addicted to music and I’m a mac nerd so I am happy you’ve found the joy that I know to be an ipod.

PS - I like the new layout

I have the same relationship with music. I think I’d become a music nerd like I used to be if I had some new toys to play with too! Hehe. I’m glad you’re having so much fun with it.

By the way, I am also a huge fan of the layout. You do this for a living, right?

I’m glad you guys like the new layout! Web design and web development are part of my job, but I’ve also been doing web stuff since I was about 12 years old. I love it.

I am with your prior-positioning on iPods. Gaaak! I had to have one for work and I loathed it. Since I work in retail marketing (CE as well) I know what a cynical campaign those evil geniuses at Mac have run to get so many people enrolled in the cult of Mac.

I have a SIRIUS Stiletto 2, since I get more music than I can hope to listen to essentially free that way. I also have a $14 .mp3 player that does me proud.

iPods are EVIL! Evils, I tells ya!

Roland, I agree about their evil. Makes me so mad, not just their mp3 marketing, but they have fed people the idea that design programs work better on Macs. Gahhh

I bought my first i-pod on my birthday in 2001, it was a whole month after they were launched. And ever since, I’ve been head over heels in love with them.

After much refusal, I succumbed to Mac earlier this year. And I am happy I did. Love, love it.

Haha. Is it the whole brand saturation that you were against?

For years I had a Creative brand, as I really did have the ‘need’ for portable music (2 hours on a train per day). But after using someone’s iPod I was immediately converted.

Join the dark side, Tina. Hehe. Honestly, I hated Macs too. Too much pretty, too little substance. Like I said, I’m never letting go of our PC, but I’m liking Macs now too. I’ll just have to live with that. As for music, welcome back. :)
