the last pharaoh | August 17, 2007

Queen of Egypt.

This one is a very old piece. My technique was still rough at the time, but there are many elements of this one that I still like. I look at this portrait as one of the fist and most important building blocks of my style. The coloration of the skin is something I have continued to do in a similar fashion. Also, the proportional differences in the body, taking note of the delicate hands.

Do you have old work that you always look back on?

    I love it!

And yes, I think as an artist there is always a piece(s) that holds a special place in your heart that you look back on once in awhile. Even if it’s not to the best of your current abilities.

i love this, tina! maybe it’s bcause you were more tentative, but NOT so with color and proportion asyou seem to have kept that kind of style, in your nowadays work. it’s sooo neat to see how even back then, you were “there”, your style was in it’s infancy, but it was still there? ok, does that make any sense? :)))

as per your usual, the unexpected colors in her skin reaallly make her special. :)))

So young, and so many decisions to make. It’s a sad thing to think about.
