« Portrait Art at Red Tie Studios keep it up »
This is what happens when there are over 50 people in a meeting.
I am always slightly surprised when I go for a length of time drawing from reference images to drawing from life and the huge difference it makes in the quality of my artwork. Everything looks so much more natural and it’s much less of an effort to get things right.
I wish I had live models to draw and paint from every day.

I’d love to see your moleskin. Can imagine the rest of it is as wonderful.
I wish I had models to shoot everyday. Things are busy now but heaven help me, I want to be busier.

But you have got models haven’t you? Everyday people walking past, sitting in parks, working in shops? I used to sketch moving people when at art college & it really helped me get things down faster. I also found it helped me capture the “motion” on paper too. Although it is different to having a static model.

AMC, there are people everywhere, but finding the time to do it is harder now that we are out of art school.

Do you carry a sketch book around with you? I used to sketch people on the way to college on the train. Nobody seemed to mind that much, although I did get a few odd looks.

I do! I need to get out of the house more often and go places where there are other living beings that I can sketch. Working in an office all day is pretty lonely.

I remember the feeling well. And there are only so many drawings of monitors that you can do before it gets incredibly boring. Like, 1.

Totally, I thought having my own office was so freaking awesome at first, but now.. I don’t love it as much.
