finished portrait water girl | May 17, 2008

David and I finished the portrait we were painting. I am so happy with it! I’ve been working very hard recently to improve my skills and I think this portrait is leaps and bounds ahead of all of my previous work. It is paying off. I am so excited about where my work is headed. Now, I just need to do four dozen more illustrations.

Be sure to pop over to Red Tie Studios to view it in the portfolio there and also to read more about it in the portrait blog.

Tina! This is absolutely gorgeous! I love the colors you used and there’s something so…innocent yet not about the girl you painted. It’s also such an unconventional style that I almost want to take it and hang it up in my place. (This assumes I have a place to hang things.)

Wow…yes, there is something very earthy about the girl…great subtle detailing on her that gives her a lot of character. Probably my favorite work of yours…

This is wonderful! I’m so happy to see something new from you. The atmosphere and setting are really wonderful–you’ve made some sophisticated color choices.

Is this a rendered version of a sketch that we’ve seen before? Why does it look familiar?

Of course! Sorry to be silly–I couldn’t figure out how to see all your previous posts, and yes I did read what you wrote in this post, but the link was not working properly. So lovely, looking forward to more collaborative work!

Its nice but, no offence, how is it remotely related to the word ‘resolve’? I don’t get it. Some people are ‘using’ Illustration Friday to only put up their work even if it is absurdly irrelevant…which isn’t right. It is very irritating.

    January 3rd, 2009 at 11:56 pm

  21. Tina Says:

None taken, I do use artwork that I have already created to post on Illustration Friday each week. But I do match the week’s topic to the artwork that I post. Resolve can also be an internal state of being determinate, which I felt that she showed in the strength and confidence of her expression and pose.
